Carlson GIS vs. Arc GIS9

Postby monksjm » Fri Apr 04, 2008 12:46 pm

My company would like me to become familiar with GIS. We have the Carlson Civil Suite, which includes the GIS. Is this sufficient enough to use primarily as a GIS module, or should I have our IT guy load Arc GIS 9 onto my machine?

User,

The Carlson GIS module should be adequate for you to use to keep up with your GIS data. The GIS module uses Microsoft Access as its data base format. You can import and export GIS .shp files from this module and use them in conjunction with ASRI products.

Are there any good tutorials or videos of the GIS module in action?

I'm in the same boat as monksjm. An entry level GIS training video would be nice.

GIS webinar NEEDED

I've got SurveCE using GIS attributes & F2F can see & use those attributes

but its a bit confusing on how to set up the GIS attribute files & mdb files.

it would be great if Carlson had a GIS module webinar.

There are 3 movies on this site under the Download section that may answer some of your questions. Look under the Carlson GIS selector.
