Web Soil Survey

I need some help. I am trying to import data from the Wed Soil Survey to use with the Carlson but I am not a GIS type person. Does anyone know the steps for the import process. I watched the videos and read the manual, but I just am not getting it. The zip file from the WSS has a lot of files and from what I understand, I just need the files with the area of interest and the text. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
