Turn off search function SurvCE 5 and Topcon GTS802a

Hello all, I'd like to solve this problem I'm having. Upon shooting a distance, the total station begins searching for a target, not necessarily tracking but simply going into pan mode, back and forth and up and down. I'd like to disable this and would appreciate any assistance. It happens mostly when I'm hooked to the TS via cable from Surveyor 2. Thanks!
