SurvCE Data Transfer

We've just purchased three new FC2000 data collectors and 3 seats of Carlson
SurvCE. Our Drafting environment is LDD 2004. I've also just added Carlson
Survey Desktop for COGO routines and field to finish because I've been
unhappy with AutoCad Survey.

Communication with the FC2000 works fine with the ActiveSync connected
through the USB Port but I cannot get a connection using Data Transfer
throught the serial port. I've had a problem with the LDD DataCollector
function grabbing both Com1 and Com2 and not releasing either until I've
restarted my computer. This has not helped solve my problem.

Can you help me out with this? I noticed a post about this problem on the
carlson-survey group but found no answer.

Thanks,

John Ernst, IPLS

John,

I noticed the same problem
I am using Carlson2004 and cannot get the sync to find he port either.
I am using the Carlson explorer data collector.
Had some issues with it in the field to day. I just got mine back and there
seems to be a setting messed up.

I am using an Allegro with Surv CE. When I use Carlson 2004 I click on the
Active Sync on the icon on the Task Bar and kill the setting for Com 1. Fo
some reason on my machine Active Sync will monopolize the Com 1 port.

Very true, Active sync ties up the com ports and will not let the Carlson
Software comminucate to them. Go to activesync and go to File/Connection
Settings and uncheck the box for allow serial connection and the transfer
should work now.

You need to disable your activesync when transfering data from data
collector to carlson survey 2004. Try that it should work, when your
activesync is off you should notice that the activesync icon is grey colored
with a red "X" over it, this means that it is off. Let me know if it works.

This program will toggle ON and OFF activesync on your computer. I use it
all the time and only enable activesync when I need to.

Carlson Data Transfer has a hard time working if activesync is enabled.
