Prism Constants in RW5

Postby GlennG » Mon Apr 16, 2007 6:11 pm

I'm really banging my head against the wall on this.

Equipment: Leica 1205 R300 Total Station
Prisms: Leica circle, Leica 360, Sokkia omni (30mm o/s)
Data Collector: Allegro CX running SurvCE

when I look at the RW5 files, these are the issues I get with the prism
constants:

1. If both the backsight and foresight are set to Leica circles, I only
see one prism constant record above the set collection data of
--P.C. mm Applied: 0.0000

2. If I set the foresight to a 30mm o/s (like any Sokkia or Seco omni
prism), I get:
--P.C. mm Applied: 4.4000
--P.C. mm Applied: 0.0000

3. If I then set the foresight to a 360 prism, I get this record:
--P.C. mm Applied: 4.4000
--P.C. mm Applied: 23.1000
--P.C. mm Applied: 0.0000

4. If I set the foresight to a 360 and the backsight to a 30mm, this is
the record I get:
--P.C. mm Applied: 23.1000
--P.C. mm Applied: 0.0000
--P.C. mm Applied: 23.1000
--P.C. mm Applied: 4.4000

and finally, if I reset both the Leica circle prisms, I get:
--P.C. mm Applied: 23.1000
--P.C. mm Applied: 0.0000

Now for the questions: Is there any way to tell which prism constant is
being applied at any given time?

And when both are set to Leica circle prisms, how can you tell if only one
record is being listed?

And, in the off-chance that the wrong prism is entered by the field crew,
is it possible to edit that record of the prism constant, or should it
simply be re-shot?

I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of days now, any help at
all would be appreciated.

Glenn

Glenn,

Did you ever get a reply to your question? I have the same issue as you
and would like to get an answer also.
