Cell phones for RTK

Is anyone successfully using SurveCE for RTK with a cell phone link? The
salesman presented this as something that is being done all over the place
last November when I bought this system. Then the story came out: we have
to wait for version 2 which will be released on February 1, 2007. So, in
June, we get version 2.

Now version two works well with cell modems connected to port D. This is
fine for two of our rovers. I didn't want to buy another cell modem when a
cell phone is supposed to work just as well. Now I'm trying to get this to
work with a cell phone link to the NTRIP network.

One of the options for the RTK communication device is "data connector
internet". I have that going just fine. I can check my email and the
weather with my data collector but I can't survey with it. Am I missing
something? Which port should I be using?

Port A is external com.
Port B is ???
Port C is the internal PDL radio
Port D is external com. We use that for the cell modems
Is there a port defined for the data stream from the data collector
internet?

Has anyone else been using this method? The salesman said it was common.

Hello Jehu,

Can you be more specific with this issue ?
What kind of instrument are you using and which version of SurvCE are
you using ?

We have very positive result working with the Sokkia 2700ISX with SurvCE
and NTRIP so it should work just fine if all settings are setup correctly.

Greetings,
Floris van den Hoeven.

Hi:
I have the same sokkia and survce on an explorer II, how did you set up the
system to get it to work? Where did you get the cell phone? We are new to
this and know nothing, so please be as detailed as you can.
Thanks,
Vince Popish

It seems that you haven't tried to set-up the system you are using. I am also using the sokkia and survice on an explorer II but I never tried to use the RTK before. I think, you need to work on this- just try to set-up your system.

I have used the cell phone RTK setup with our Sokkia reciever and a Explorer 600+.

The Expolorer is set to blutooth phone

On the phone the only method I have found to work for our equipment is to use Sokkia GSRNetlink

That requires a windows compatablie touch screen phone. Other then that setup is pretty basic. Mostly telling the GSR program the access info for the RTK site.

If I remember correctly you can download the GSR software off the sokkia web site.
