Just the other day i was giddy over the ability to have a profile generated by reading points with an offset tolerance to an alignment; sweet.
Today I was amused again to find the draw polyline by nearest points; so cool.
So, I had a need today, but I can't find anything that deos exactly what I want. Any ideas?
The setup: I have a lot of points along something that is basically straight, but of course the points wander slightly to each side (let's use a curb as an example).
The desire: To create a straight line or alignment and have Carlson move each of the point over to the line or alignment (assumedly nearest distance or normal to line/alignment).
The closest solution after looking all oer might be to create a profile from the points (that aren't exactly on the alignment) and then having it spit back a set of points on the alignment. I didn't test this yet though, not sure if it can spit back the same stations as the points or wants to do them back at some standard interval. Plus, then I'd have twice as many points.
I want my points moved over to an alignment when they are within a tolerance.
Thanks for any ideas!
