Autodesk Field Survey?

I just finished reading the article in the June issue of Professional
Surveyor about Autodesk Field Survey. I think my learning curve on this
program would be pretty slight, since I've been using it for years. The
only difference is, I've been calling it Surv-Cadd. What gives?

As an emerging industry leader, we are involved in many joint
development projects with other
companies. This particular venture happened to be with Autodesk.
Here are some facts:

+ Carlson Survey and AFS are two independent products

+ Carlson Survey and all other Carlson Products are very alive and well.
+ Carlson Survey CES is the latest version, released in March 2001.
+ Carlson Survey is based on the AutoCAD R14 OEM engine.
+ Support for Carlson Survey (and all of our products) is still provided
by Carlson at no charge.

+ Autodesk Field Survey is based on the AutoCAD R2000i OEM engine.
+ AFS is an Autodesk product, sold through their dealer network.
+ Support for AFS is provided by your Autodesk dealer.

I hope this has answered any questions you had.

Randall:
Apparently Autodesk recognizes a good product when they see it. I am
comforted by your declaration of independence, but of course, Autodesk
is an 800-pound gorilla. Be careful where you let them sit down.

Don't worry. We're light and lean, fast on our feet, and alert to
everything going on.
