Setting Heirarchy

Can anyone out there tell me which settings take precedence in the event
of a conflict?
There are several places where one can change settings like drawing scale,
or the wording for a particular label, layer assignments, or the font.
There are so many that I sometimes wonder how SurvCADD sorts out conflicts
when they happen.
One problem I am having is that when using one particualr command, it
always defaults to the 'standard' text style even though I have set all of
my styles to be 'Romans' in every dialog box I can find. There is no
option within the context of this particular command (Draw Sewer Profile)
to change text settings. I can't figure out why it's giving me 'standard'.
This isn't the only example, but it's the easiest one to explain on the
web. Does anyone know of documentation describing the settings heirarchy,
if one exists? I've been all through the manuals with no success.
