The last time that I installed AutoCAD SP2 Carlson seemed to function fne; however, the AutoCAD ribbon had a number of problems under the Carlson 2009 profile and i subsequenly uninstalled the update. I relayed this problem to Carlson development staff when troubleshooting some other issues and they seemed to be unaware of the conflict with SP2. I have not yet seen a response on that issue, but all of my other issues have been responded to very quickly.
If you do not use the ribbon panel to access AutoCAD commands installing SP2 should work fine. If, after you install SP2, any Carlson and/or AutoCAD features do not work properly you can unistall the update using Add/Remove Programs under the Control Panel. Just check the "show updates" box at the top of the dialog and remove Update 2 under AutoCAD 2009.
Good luck,
