3D Polyline from triangulation intersection

Postby noliver » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:34 pm

Is it possible to create a 3D polyline by using the intersection of two tin surfaces? I looked through the Carlson help file and couldn't find it. Information regarding this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I am a pretty new user to Carlson software but I don't see a specific tool for that. Perhaps you can create a difference model and contour 0.00 then drape the contour(s) on your original surface?

Ha! Shortly after my previous post I found there is a specific tool for surface intersections. It can be found in the Civil menus (I had the Survey menus active before and Surface menu is very different):

Surface | Draw Surface | Draw Surface Intersection

I also see the menu item for Surface | Triangulation File Utilities is not in the Survey Surface menu. I did not notice because I have been running it by command TINUTIL.

So, do you have the Civil menus?

Yes I do have Civil, and the "Draw Intersection" command works perfectly! Thanks a bunch
