Installing 2011 on Civil 3D 2010 64 or 32?

I'm installing 2011 Carlson on 2010 Civil 3D. In 2010, Civil 3D had a 64 bit version but as I understood, it was not true 64. Does anyone know if I should install the 32 or 64 bit versions of Carlson?

If the Acad was installed as 32 bit, install Carlson the same. If 64, install as 64 bit.

in the install, 64 bit is checked but it's not really 64. But, when I tried 64, it gave me errors, 32 worked fine. It's a little weird because 2010 AutoCAD 64 bit is 64 bit but 2010 Civil 3D 64 bit is not. something about the survey database being access but it's all working with the 32 bit Carlson.
