GRD and TIN files

Postby HS059364 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 5:23 pm

I'm getting ready to give a training on surface modeling and am looking for more general information and backgriound on grid and triangulation (TIN) files. I'd like to explain how each are created, the benefits and caveats of each kind (including resolution for the .GRD files), and for what commands you should be using each (e.g. design pad template seems to only work based on a .GRD file, is creating profiles more accurate using a .GRD or TIN file?).

Everything I am finding is about what buttons to push to create them or routines that use a .GRD or a .TIN file.

Is there a generic reference out there to work off of? Does anyone have any preference for one type or the other? Thanks for any help or advice you can give me!!! :)
