How do you put text into a drawing from another program such as MS Word. Can't seem to get the hang of it. I usually get a "failed to create item" when I try to insert the file as an ogject. Also, how do I size it to be the same size as my text allready in the drawing

Question: I have some text that I would like to place in my drawing that is standardized ( i.e. legal description ) from Corel / MS-Word / Word Pad. How do I do that?

The best way to place text into a drawing is to use the multi line text command. Select all of the text you want from your document ( any format ) and copy it. Now in IntelliCAD select the multiline text command ( mtext ) and create the window box in the area that you want your text. A new screen will pop up so that you can enter the desired text and edit things such as justification, style and text height. Press the CTRL and V keys together ( this is a shortcut to paste ). Your text will now show up on the pop up screen. Press the OK button to accept the text.
****When copying and pasting text from a word processing program you may notice that some of your document settings have been changed ( i.e. tabs, colums, etc ). This is how IntelliCAD interprets that text. Therefore, text that has alot of tabs, colums and neat arrangement in Corel, Word or even Note Pad will be changed to a simple format. Keep this in mind when you are making these templates.

This is a good method. However, the spacing between lines looks like crap. Is there a fix for this

I'm not sure about C&G/Intellicad, As I have been away from this product since the merger. However, You can go to
http://users.powr.net/chane/
and search their LISP libraries for a .txt converter, that changes Excel, Word, and Works doc's to a format that is more compatible with ACAD. Maybe this will work with Intellicad, also.
You guys that are CAD literate (and CAD illiterate) should do yourselves a favor, and bookmark that site; They have many very useful LISP routines available on that site to help-- especially for us Civil Design / Survey idiots!

You need to try to find and download a LISP routine called TXTIN.ZIP from CADPlace (The site I've mentioned on the preceding post). If I remember correctly, it helped me one time. It might work in Intellicad, also. I've only used it in Autocad and LDD
