Copying Entities

Postby Neil » Tue Nov 27, 2001 4:48 pm

I used to be able to plot all my surveyed points (ie: sideshots, trav. pts., etc.) on a layer I call "points" and then, after I have my map done, turn off the "points" layer for the final map, leaving some surveyed points that were plotted on different layers. Now when I turn "points" off several entities (blocks) turn off also - even though they are not on the "points" layer.
I have changed the properties(layer) of the entities several times without any success. (One of the entities is my custom North arrow block). Now in order to have only some of my survey points plotted, I have to remove the survey points from the plot and replot the ones I want to keep on separate layers.
Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm using c&g win vs. 5.10.13. Thanks for your help.

Neil, I have had similar problems when inserting a block. Even if I insert the block, say on the 'drawing' layer, it disappears if another layer is turned off. When I check enities is shows it to be on the drawing layer. I think it might have something to do with what layer the block was created on

It is best to create blocks in Layer 0. That way blocks will take on the characteristics of the layer that you will ultimately place them in. If a block is created in anyother layer, it will 'disappear' if that layer is turned off
