Linework Codes

Postby Andrew Getz » Thu Jan 17, 2002 2:55 pm

So far I'm a fan of the automated linework. Where do I find a copy of the codes that C&G uses to create the lines (i.e. BL = begin line, etc...)?
Also, is there a way to import desription tables and blocks into Intellicad and where can I get an understanding of the field operations that take place to create linework

I received the articles you sent me and got the lines to plot inside Intellicad. You included Document #101 Mapping Des. Codes which showed some of the codes that are used (or is this all of them?). I was looking for a list of the codes and also the procedure for the field to utilize them. We currently used Intellicad as a intermediate stopping point for bringing in and editing raw files, then exporting them as text files into AutoCad 2000, where we can utilize our layers and blocks. That was the reason for my prior question about importing layers/blocks into Intellicad so we can get more use out of that program.
Also, the file of the Fall 1999 Traverse comes as an executable file (*.exe) and when it opens, it says it can not be run by DOS. The instructions indicate a *.zip file.<br

The method is fairly basic, as for codes I know of no standard list all though most of use the same stuff or close. You just start making them in the C&G DESCRIPTION TABLE MINE are very bloated as you may have noticed cause I have a bad habit of just adding new ones the crew comes up with! The template .dwg I sent you is an Autoicad template I opened as a drawing and use as my intellicad template, open it in autocad and notice that your fencelines and acad specila linetypes are all there and working as they should. Intellicad could not create or display these lines but it can retain there attributes. So you need to type in items into your description table (crd-mngmnt>desc.table. You also need to get your acad template that is used in the LDD and make it into a blank .DWG and use that as your template in Intellicad. I always did the raw linework in Intellicad while I was with Engineering Companies and then turned the drawing over to the engineer\drafters after I was happy with it. They returned it to me to make contors as everyone prefered the C&g contors over the LDD mess and I could get em out in about 1/10th the time due to the automatted mapping features. Far as figuring out ho
w to map in LDD, all we ever figured out there was that we definatly wanted the competition to continue using LDD.
