How about Line by Direction. I would like a simple, non-coordinate way
to input a line by bearing and distance without having to convert my
bearings to east azimuth decimal degrees.

I use C&G daily at work but I teach LDT at UAA and this LDT command
seems to be used more than any other.

In the meantime you could use the angle override:

with your autocad format set to "surveyor's units", initiate the "line"
command to pick a starting point, at the command line type the left angle
bracket, enter, the bearing from the point, enter, type in the distance,
enter, and the line will be drawn accordingly. Repeat the angle override,
bearing and distance for each new leg. The format, excluding quotes, is
"<", "n40d30'35"e" and "distance". It helps to move the cursor to the
general quadrant of the next leg ... autocad may get confused and not
process the command if the tracking line is in the opposite direction!
No coordinates and no conversion.

I use this method:

Select the line command and then on the command line enter the distance and
bearing in the following format: @25.0<n90d00'00"e and press enter. This
example would draw a line 25.0 feet long running due east on the screen.
Substitute distances and bearings as needed.
