Raw Data

I'm a die-hard C&G user with C&G raw data high on the list of usefull tools in doing our work. The company that I now work for uses SMI for all field crews. The new Version 6 SMI raw data is not cooperating at all with C&G. Is there a way to for C&G to handle this SMI raw data format? If not, are future updates going to address this problem

SMI Version 6 & CG Windows

This Document is to provide instructions for use with the SMI version #6 card and C&G Windows data collector interface. You will need the SMI Version 6 Transfer program and C&G's transfer program.

1. Set the SMI Transfer program to file type of SDR2X. Complete the SMI transfer and place the resulting SDR2X file in a folder on your hard drive.

2. Open the C&G data collector transfer program and complete these settings:
A. Data Collector = SDR2X
B. Place the check in the "use disk file", there should be no check in "use data collector".
C. File type on right side should be coordinate or raw data as needed. (coordinate: .crd or .cgc -Raw Data: .cgr or .raw
3. Click the "File" button situated under use disk file and use the resulting windows navigation box to navigate to and open the SMI SDR2X type file.
4. Next click the transfer button and a message should soon appear that file conversion or
transfer is complete. You now have a C&G type file sitting at your default data path (options>data path options)

I would add - CHECK YOUR CONVERTED RAW FILE CAREFULLY. The conversion process is far from perfect. I've had instrument set up record lines eliminated and a group of sideshots computed from the previous set-up.

How about addressing this C&G so that SMI V.6 and V.7 can be downloaded direct to CG ? PLEASE ? (Have I failed to say please before?
