c&g dos

hey guys,
all of the sudden, whenever i overwrite a point, i don't get a ding anymore. i don't know whether you have a answer to my problem but i sure hope so. i am running c&g dos in windows, & relly like to knoe before i overwrite a point or not. i hope you can help. please respond

The answer to this is going to depend on a few things. Are you running C&G for DOS in the DOS shell ( MS-DOS prompt or you may have a shortcut for C&G-DOS on your Windows desktop ) or are you booting straight to DOS ( or restarting in DOS mode )? Is the ding sound comming from the computer's speakers or from the computer itself ( computers have a speaker inside them called a PC speaker )?
Assuming that you are running in a DOS shell and that the ding is comming from the speakers it is probably one of your settings in the Control Panel -> Sounds area of your Windows operating. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel then double click on Sounds.
However, if your are booting directly to DOS or restarting your computer in DOS mode and the sound is comming from the PC then the "PC speaker" is probably bad.
