I'm considering upgrading my Operating System from Windows 98. Are there any cautions or recomendations concerning CG ICAD ?<br

Devonne I have played with WINDOWS 2000 and XP I prefer XP but we have not tested enough to say with assurance that all systems will work. I would be most concerned with the dos shells which will be mostly replaced soon anyway. All other things being the same windows 2000 is basically windows nt. Windows XP has a really neat emulator feature that allows it to act like a windows 95/98 or windows nt computer, kinda cool if it works on all programs

Thanks for the quick response ! How soon will you know if Win XP is compatible? I'm having a problem with a scanner that the manufacturer is blaming on my OS. I need to either upgrade the OS or exchange the scanner while under warranty (DEC 2)

Unless you have completely new hardware you should be very careful about going to Win XP. Have heard from several folks that many many drivers for accessories do not yet work with XP. You could find yourself needing to also get a new plotter, scanner, printer, digitizer, camera, who knows what all. Some folks are saying that some drivers are on the way for these attachments and some will never be supported.

Bottom line.

BE Wary.

Problem solved - sort of. I took the scanner back and exchanged it for another model. Although we still had some problems, I am able to scan through 3rd party software. I learned alot in the process - first of all Windows 98 is as stable as it gets, second - in the hours I spent with the tech support of both of these major brand manufacturers, I got my best glimpse yet of all the possible things that can go wrong inside of Windows. MY HAT IS OFF TO C&G FOR ENDURING WITH THE WINDOWS PRODUCT. Never again will I take for granted what you guys have been going through to provide me with a powerful tool

I have recently upgrade most of our machines to 2000 pro
II had about two week of tweaking our network ro run better,
but as far C&G win I couldn't be happier. I may getone crash a week
now. C&G dos works but it take 30sec or so to get into the program
We oly have one person who uses dos so I left his comp with 98.
any way I am pleased with C&G win in 200
