Windows XP and Intelicad

Postby DeVon Henne » Sat Jan 26, 2002 12:53 pm

'm thinking about upgrading from Win 98 to Win XP. I'm using CG Windows. Does anyone have any advise? any pitfalls ? How difficult is to upgrade my OS ? Will I spend hours or days reinstalling software and drivers ? Any advise will be appreciated

De Von,

Setting aside the issues of C. & G. you may have quite a few problems with the 98 to XP upgrade. That path has been littered with more than a few bones of others that have tried and been sorry. I suggest unless you have some compelling reason to upgrade, you consider sticking with 98 until you need a new computer. If you do have a compelling reason, go to www.wopr.com and check out the many documents on their lounge concerning HOW you go about doing the upgrade without pulling all your hair out.

As for C. & G. and XP, when last I talked to the folks at Carlson/C. & G. they do not guarantee that Intellicad will work with XP. There may be some people doing it without major incident; but, I do think there are some who are trying without success.

Good Luck.

Devonne I have been there done that and the "Windows XP UPgrade" from wondows 98 is a cruel joke that Bill Gates is pulling on us. NONE of my applications from Windows 98 would run in Windows xp. The only way I could install it where even microsoft word would work was as a dual boot system

Thanks for the confirmation. It looks like I will in fact be replacing my hardware. It will be custom built and my builder is recomending Windows 200 O/S. Any input here
