Contours from polylines

Postby Kevin » Thu Jan 31, 2002 9:22 pm

I recently received a dwg contour drawing that was created using another software program. I would like to use the contour information to calculate volumes. Is there any way to generate usable contours from the polylines? I can click on a contour and check "Properties" and there is an elevation associated with the polyline. I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed

Kevin, you can go under topo and set the main contour layer, and intermediate contour
layer to match the layer from the drawing you recieved. Then I draw a line across my
drawing to serve as a base line. Under earth select cross sections from contours,
select drag, and snap to the end points of your base line. This will create cross sections from
the topo file you recived. Then repeat for the proposed contours. then you can run volumes from
the two cross section files. Good luck
