We have been using a calcomp pen plotter and would like to upgrade to an HP 500 designjet. Will we have any problems printing in the windows 95/98 environment with this G&C version 4.50.0

Yes you will due to the fact you are running a dos program with a plotter that will have windows drivers. I really do not know if we will be able to make it plot or not. Will the dealer let you run a test? You could go install the dos at his office and see if it plots

We have this situation at our office. You can plot the drawings but it is a real pain as it changes pen width's and scale in the plot process.

The best way we found is to .dxf the drawing, open it in C&G for Windows and save as a release 14 .dwg. Then plot from the Intellicad.

I would not recommend buying the HP 500 if you plan on using only the DOS version.

New HP printers don't support DOS so you are going to have the same problem when you buy a new printer and can't print raw data or coordiante files if you continue with the DOS only concept.

We have an HP500, C&G for Windows and C&G for Dos.

Everything was tried but we could not print directly from C&G for Dos to the HP500.

We ended up buying a program by Spicer called Imagenation (yes it's spelled that way). Whenever we have an olds dos plan to print, we print it to an HPGL file, then open it in Imagenation and print to the HP500 from there!

It works great (no line widths to change or scale changes required) but is really only a workaround.

Good Luck. BTW we like the HP500

We are running C&G Dos version 4.50.00 and using a HP Designjet 500. We have yet to experience any problems. Set F4 screen to HP Designjet Black, and run through LPT1, using * to set pen thicknesses

HP has an optional card that will allow the HP 500 to run HP-GL/2. I think this card is $350, but would probably allow the plotter to work with the C&G Dos version
