Map draw not plotting with my symbols

I'm running ver. 5.10.11 and though I've defined blocks, placed them in the cg symbols folder, and set up my desc. table to plot using these symbols, the current symbol setting under "drawing settings" overrides the desc. table. I'm able to place these syb's under "place symbol", but they won' plot with map draw.

What do I do?

Go to options>graphic>options> and in deafault layer set a default layer for all items that dont match your description table to go to. This will inm effect turn on the descriotion table
