Problem deleting layers

I have C&G win ver 5.50.03, when I try to delete layers and then save my file an Intellicad error box appears "error writing file, object map write error". The file previous to trying to delete a layer or layers would save okay. Any ideas

HELLO RICK:

TRY THE PURGE COMMAND. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET RID OF ALL UN-USED
LAYERS, LINETYPES ETC. . IF YOU HAVE INFO IN THE LAYERS, THEN PICK ONE AS
THE CURRENT LAYER AND LEAVE ALL OF OTHER LAYERS YOU WISH TO DELETE ON, ZOOM
EXTENTS, DELETE ALL ENTITIES ON THESE LAYERS! NOW USE THE PURGE COMMAND.
TRY TO SAVE THE DRAWING
THIS SHOULD WORK
