C&G to MicroStation Conversion

Postby Thomas R. Hardin » Wed Apr 30, 2003 5:57 pm

I am running ICAD 98 with C&G 5.50.03. I have created several different
symbols for utilities such as gas lines, water lines, etc. These symbols
were place in the drawing on which I was working. ( I noticed that when I
"thawed" the "CG Settings", the letters "CD_SETTINGS" appeared on the
screen. No problem. I just froze it and they went away.)

Now the problem. I converted the C&G drawing (*.dwg) to a MicroStation file
(*.dgn) to give to one of our engineers. When I did this, the letters
"CG_SETTINGS" appeared in the MicroStation drawing. No matter what I do, I
can't seem to get rid of these aggravating letters.

Does anyone out there have a fix for this?

It's been several years since I used Microstation, but didn't Bentley
incorporate the ability to read .dwg files directly into Microstation
for better AutoCAD compatibility? If so, read the C&G drawing into
Microstation, thaw the CG_SETTINGS layer, erase the entitites on that
layer, purge the layer, and save as a .dgn file. The same scenario
works in vanilla Intellicad and AutoCAD without C&G loaded.
