XP and all of that....

Postby Michele Sims » Wed Aug 20, 2003 10:41 pm

Arrrggh. Short version: Old computer died, nice computer man brings out
new machine with XP Pro (hey, nobody asked ME! Okay?), CGWindows with
Intellicad 98 (ver 5.1011) now only works in Demo mode. I searched this
newsgroup for the fix Jeff talked about earlier, downloaded the driver from
Rainbow, and We Are Still in Demo Mode.

Next week the nice computer man is bringing out more new computers with (oh,
boy) XP Pro. So as long as we can do jobs with no more than 15 coordinates
and don't need to print, we'll be okay, I guess.

From everything I've read here, XP and CG don't get along, right? Can I
tell the nice computer guy to give us Win2000 instead? John in Sales is
sending me demo disks for the new CG and Carlson; do I just convince the
boss to upgrade and life will be good?

I don't know if you resolved the problem but you could try this:

Look in the Intellicad 98 directory for a file called "icad.sds". Open the
file in Notepad and make sure the directory tree points to "cgicad98.dll" in
the CGSurvey folder. Here's how mine looks: C:/Program
Files/CGSurvey/cgicad98.dll

I believe this is a solution for a similar problem when you install Win2000.
Might work with XP.
