C & G Dos under Windows 2000

Postby Guest » Wed Sep 17, 2003 5:04 am

We are upgrading our systems and since we do not like XP we are looking at
Win2000/ Win 2003 Server layout. The problem is that we are having MAJOR
conflicts with C & G Dos on the test system and want to know if anyone has
managed to get the transfer routines for SMI to work properly. I know that
Win 9x had issues with transfering from DC to PC but I though- possibly
wrongly- that the NT drivers in C & G dos should allow it inside Win 2000
since it is built on the NT engine. Is there a fix or are we talking major
upgrade in the survey software.

Some of our clients are able to transfer, but not all. The problem stems
from attempting to run a DOS product in a Windows environment. DOS enjoyed
and required direct communication with ports ( parallel and serial), while
Windows acts as a port manager. You can vist
ftp://anonftp.rainbow.com/support/SSD5410-32bit.exe for an updated driver,
but no success is guaranteed. We have written a transfer routine that works
well in windows. Give me a call and I can help you explore your options.
