KIP Plotter

Postby Thomas R. Hardin » Mon Aug 02, 2004 6:46 pm

I am running C&G 6.10.01 with Autodesk Technology. When I plot to one of
our two HP plotters (HP 600 DesignJet or HP 750C DesignJet), all is fine.
However, we also have a KIP 2950 Plotter that prints more like a copier than
a plotter (i.e., fast). The "KIP" is server driven but has its own CPU
which uses Windows NT as its operating system. The system requires me to
use the "plot" dialog box in C&G to create a file with a .plt extension.
After doing this, I double click on an icon on my desktop called "WINREQ"
which opens a program called "KIP Power Print Request." I then select the
file I want to print, enter the job number, and click "Submit Job." The
problem is not in sending data to the "KIP" for printing. I can send the
data. The problem is that all of the information on the plot has the same
line quality and all of the letters and numbers are the same thickness as
well. The font size I can change for letters and numbers but not the
thickness. I've tried creating a different pen table setup in the KIP Power
Print Request dialog box on both my system and the KIP CPU.

Does anyone out there have a possible solution? My computer guru and I both
have tried everything we can think of to resolve this problem without any
resolution.

Are you creating HPGL/2 plot files to send to the KIP?

If so, take one of these .PLT files and send it to the HP instead and see if it plots OK.

We have an OCE (which has it's one controller - similar to the KIP) - and the OCE uses it's one pen table to modify the .PLT file to produce the final print.

If the "KIP" plot file plots fine on the HP - then it looks like the KIP pen table is the problem.
