C.C-S Coordinate Transformation Alpha-Numeric Bug

Postby Rich » Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:03 am

I had the opportunity to try and use the coordinate transformation
utility under coordinate utilities.

I had 2 points from my GPS survey, named like GPSCP_1 (note, that I
oringally used GPSCP-1, but it was changed on import).
In the drawing I also had points 1-105.

I asked it to trasnform from SPC to Lat/Lon and add 1000 to the point
numbers. The computer struggled for so long I eventually killed the
program. I found that the system got comfused and started generating
hundreds of thousands of points. I tried again just with the numeric
point numbers, it worked OK. I tried again just with the alpha-numeric
and it also worked. It was when I tried ALL or a range that included
both sets that always caused the confusion and endless point generatin
(I always eventually killed the program becauase there was no end in
sight.) Since it works with either, it appears just a bug fix would
allow it to work with both, which right now seems to throw it for a
loop.

Anything I'm doing wrong or not thinking of?

I guess I also learned that "-" is not allowed in alpha-numeric.
