Tick marks at polyline

Postby finedesignz » Wed Oct 04, 2006 1:42 am

I would like to show tick marks (or some kind of marks) on a parcel map
where curves begin/end, small changes in direction, etc.

Typically we show that with a tick mark... is there an automatic way to
locate all end points on a polyline?

I believe you can use the "Station Polyline/Centerline" tool, which appears
to work on closed polylines as well as open. Just turn of the station
labels and modify the station marker settings to whatever you need. Set
your "Distance for Intermediate Stations" to zero and your "Distance for
Stations" to something greater than the length or perimeter of your
polyline. This will prevent the creation of superfluous point in your
situation. All that will be created is markers at the vertices of the
pline. Please note this creates one extra marker at the closing vertice of
a polygon. I imagine the folks at Carlson would shudder to think what we
are using this command for .... but whatever, it seems to work. There may
be another alternative, but I haven't found it. Also, I do not know in what
version the command appeared, we are running Carlson Survey 2006, so good
luck.
