point block editing

Postby don poole pls » Tue May 31, 2005 8:16 pm

Can we edit the location of the point block attributes, such as having the
elevation decimal point at the shot location, or revise the point number
location and description locations?

Pick the point pulldown and then pick Point Defaults. There will be a

number of different type points and locations there.

Terry, you can change the position of the attributes by opening and
editing any of the srvpno? drawings. You then specify this attribute
layout id in the point defaults. For example if you alter srvpno6 with
your desired settings, then in point defaults select attribute layout id
6. You can also use your attribute layout in field to finish. In the
code definition dialog box, you can specify a different attribute layout
id for each code.

There is no way using the attribute id to have the decimal point of the
elevation to be located at the node of the point. I should say there is
no way that i know of. To do this you could use the locate points
routine, elevation text only. This does place the decimal point of the
elevation as close to the node as the font allows.

Hope this helps.

Editing the srvpno is an area which I have just discovered and it is
particulerly useful.. I have found it particularly handy to edit the layers
of the attributes so that I can have some points in a layer Plot_Elev and
others in PNTELEV and various other combinations. This enables me to turn
off PNTELEV for heights I don't wish to plot and turn on Plot_Elev for
points I wish to plot the heights. The edit multiple point attributes can be
used to change the attribute layers once they are on the screen

To Select features which will often be paired, you can chose separate srvpno
which will minimize the over writing on screen. The positon of the attribute
can be moved to a position which is most suitable for the particular code.
It easy to stack attributes and make it very readible a bit more challenging
to place them side by side and not get overwrites. Which brings me to the
original query.

As there is no identication of the string size for the attributes, I think
you can only fix the starting position of any attribute, So you can position
the heights(or Pnt,Desc) so its bottom left hand corner is at the point
position by having the geometry setting in the respective srvpno at 0,0,0 or
any other starting position.

It is a very useful operation, and it could be handy to have a few more
srvpno's than just 0-9.

Is there a way to edit the default text size for some of the attributes?
Specifically, I'd want to change the height of the PT# to say 0.005 while
leaving the DESC and ELEV at 0.08

I was not able to modify the text height within the srvpno drawing. It

seems to default to the one unit size. You can use the Edit Multiple
Point Attributes edit to change the height once it is in the drawing. I
find the EMPA function very powerful and extremely useful. Being able to
set the different heights in the srvpno could be useful as would more
than the ten only srvpno options.
