Hello,
We are currently using Sokkia and leica instruments with SDR mapping. We
use a data logger with the instruments.
Over the last few years we have been having problems with the Logger
breaking down! (mainly in the wet and because they are ancient).
Because of this and the fact that I dont want to be using SDR forever, has
moved us into looking at other systems.
As I said we have a Leica 805, which we brought recently with the hope of
using it without a data logger. This has not really happened yet as i
dont think this instrument is the best for using alone as it is fairly
slow for coding and not the best for transfering/converting files to and
from SDR.
We are now thinking of buying 2 Leica 1200s instead. Which are much more
user friendly.
At the moment we use control codes like BB ST or KB CVS, which we think is
brilliant. However we do realise that using a single instrument has its
benefits and would not have a problem conerting to a number coding system.
We have tried LSS and Mapsuite but didnt think much of them. We have now
been pointed in the direction of Carlson. Anyone else in the process of
changing to Carlson (from SDR or not!) any feedback/advice would be great.
Any info on the best ways of coding in Carlson would be great?
Could someone please tell us anything which might help us find the right
software to go for?
Many thanks
Chris
