Survey 2007 Standalone update

Postby Oliver Swaffield » Wed Jul 25, 2007 7:55 pm

Just noticed on the Carlson website a new patch for Survey 2007 standalone
uploaded yesterday.
Not sure what has been fixed as I can't find an update history anywhere.
Still finding Leica 1200 import command not working - same error as before.
Also convert Carlson to LDD points & vice-versa still asks for AEC object
enabler to be loaded, even though I have installed "civil 2007 oe" file
already.
Indecently, add/remove programs in Windows XP will not allow me to uninstall
object enabler for Survey 2007 (it will allow me to do this for AutoCAD
2007) so that I can try re-installing to see if this fixes the problem.
Anybody else have this problem?

I'm still getting the silly "Save changes to drawing 1?" message. Also,
the "sound" ding still doesn't work when you exit. I don't understand
what happened between 2006 & 2007. This stuff works right in 2006. I
suppose there's a lot more to deal with every time there's a new cad engine.

Did you install the OE for Civil 3D or for Land Desktop?
They are different.

When you go to close the default drawing? That just means DBMOD does not
equal 0 - which means the drawing has been modified. Either by startup
code, or by the user.

I installed the one specified as the Land Desktop 2007 object enabler
(filename "civil_2007_oe.exe") on the Calrson Survey 2007 download page.

I took your tip though and looked at the Autodesk website and installed the
Land Desktop 2005 OE also (filename ldt2005oe.msi), but still does not seem
to work.

Is there another one you suggest I try?

Thanks,

Oliver

I haven't modified anything, and I don't know if everyone gets the same
message or not. It's not a big deal, just worrisome, nothing a mouse
click won't take care of.
I'm actually still using 2006 for work, because of clients that are
still on the Acad 2004 platform. I would like to take advantage of the
SurvNet capability in V 2007, but 2008 may be out before I ever do any
productive work with it.
Thanks for the response,
terry

You can set 2007 to save and work with the 2004 format under options, open
and save tab. And yes my drawing one has to be closed without saving each
time I close the program. But it is interesting that if I close it the very
first thing I do, then it doesn't prompt me to save the changes.

Go here: http://www.autodesk.com/oe

....and choose the version of LDT which created the points (or other
objects), and then choose the AutoCAD version that your Carlson is based
on (because you won't find Carlson Survey in that list)

That will direct you to either:
A) the proper instructions
-or-
B) the proper download

Thanks for that, Vincent, I could've been using it all along.
I downloaded watched the webinar on SurvNet today. It was informative.
I'm going to work on learning it, also.

Still, why does Carlson ALWAYS post updates WITHOUT updating the
IMPROVEMENTS list? EVERY time, we have to ask because it is nice to know
what will be affected. Just look at the date on the file posted on the
website! The date of the update is July 24, 2007, and the date of the
improvements list is Oct, 2006! It can't be that hard to update a
document and recreate the PDF file and post it at the same time!
