Hello Group:
As someone, who has used AutoCAD and LDDT for nearly 15 years, I have a
few habits to break when I try to use Carlson Software 2004 for my surveying
determinations or topographic mapping. My biggest problem appears to be in
how
the points are generated i.e. individual CRD files vs. ONE large point file.
I somehow
manage to create situations where the points lose their links to the
drawing, and cause
me to autosave, so that I can recover the file and start over. OK, I thought
I knew the
proper technique to START a new drawing and then bring in points. BUT, my
crews
are generating new files daily for the project and I would prefer to keep
the file as a whole
after it is checked and imported to the screen. Also, I like to separate my
points onto layers
so that I can see what I'm doing...using Point Groups is the preferred
method yet I still
have a situation where multiple points exist atop another even though the
Point Protect
box is checked. The manual isn't much help to me, and maybe I just to damn
dumb
to learn yet another CAD program, BUT, does anyone have an answer or advice
to
follow so that I quit frustrating myself. Its no fun to constantly be kicked
out of the program
when erasing points from the screen just so I can view my work area.
Oh, yeah, I've called Tech Support for this, but we just never seem to get
on the same
page regarding the issue. My employer has this thing for Carlson and
SurvCADD, thats
why I am using it instead of what I cut my surveying teeth on.
Hope somebody out there can straighten out this old-timer before he loses
all his hair.
Thanks.
