edit Multiple Point attributes

I encountered the following error when selecting edit multiple point attributes.

ads error on line 5536 of file ..\..\SCPOINT.CPP. Error code: 35

I was trying to change the layer of the elevation height attribute and this popped up. have use the EMPA many times before without a problem.
