Survey 2008 Custom Icons?

Postby tstrickland » Tue Jun 03, 2008 1:01 pm

Has anyone figured out where and how to store custom icons? I can edit and save and they still show up as a cloud with a question mark.
Also, is there going to be a new build for CS 2008?
thanks,
terry

Standalone or AutoCAD?
If AutoCAD, what version?

Terry,

I just made a new button in my 2008 standalone. I went to a toolbar, right click and did customize. once in Cui editor i pick new next to all commands and it added my new command. I selected the new command and dragged it to the toolbar i wanted it to be on in the window above commands. I selected the command there and got the properties on the right. I picked a button image that was already there and cleared it and made my button like i wanted it and hit save as. gave it a name i wanted it to have. Then i edit the macro associated with it and hit apply. I used my button and it works and the image is displayed. I then closed the software and restarted and my button is still just as i wanted it. One thing that may cause you a problem is if the button image was made in an older version it may not work now and you may get a cloud or ?. I think it was something to do with he image size in older versions was bigger than the new image size allowed from reading on Autodesk. Seems it was like 16x16 and if its bigger it wont show up but I can't remember for sure. hope this helps.

Jason,
Does it matter where the icons are stored?
In my preferences, the default location for icons is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\Application Data\Carlson Software\Carlson Software 2008\R2008\enu\support\icons.
The *\icons directory didn't exist, so I created it, and tried saving there, and the icons still don't show up correctly in the menus.
I edited the icon in the CUI, cleared all and drew a new icon with "C L" for change layer, saved it in the icon directory, and I still have a cloud and question mark for this, as well as all the other new custom icons.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.
thanks,
terry
