TRAVERSE ADJUSTMENT

Postby John Macolini » Tue Oct 11, 2005 6:33 pm

I'm having a problem with the traverse adjustment routine.

I thought I had this thing figured. But most of my traverses have been
small, with little error - so I probably didn't notice. But it appears that
when I use F2F, the adjusted traverse is not what comes into the dwg.

I've tried editing/processing the rw5 file a few different ways, and the
error seems to be put all in one leg, and the coordinate values differ from
the closure report.

Can anyone give me any hints?

I started with pnt 2, with coordinates. I backsighted an azimuth, then shot
pnt 1. I occupied pnts 2-16. At 16 I BS 15 and foresighted 1, and then
occupied 1 BS 16, FS 2.

Should I not be backsighting an azimuth initially, and should I create a
coordinate for pnt 1?

When I occupy 16 and FS 1, should I make it a CL (closing shot)?

When I occupy 1 and FS 2, should I make it a CL + AB (closing shot, and
angle balance)?

I processed this in LDD, creating a fbk, and it took me about 2 minutes
worth of edits, and it gave me a 1:29,000 closure.

Thanks

John

I tried to attach the unedited rw5 file, but it didn't send. I can email it
to anyone who feels like helping me out. There should just be edits at the
end for the closing shots. And maybe at the beginning if I have to enter
coordinates for pnt 1 to start with.

John, email me the file at bhensley@carlsonsw.com. I will give you a
call after I get the file.
