Volumes on Section File drawing

Postby Wayne Fischer » Sat Jan 08, 2005 9:59 pm

Carlson Roads

Is there a way to show the cut and fill yardage along with the end areas
when drawing a Section File (Road Menu-Sections-Draw Section File). The
help file shows a toggle called "Calc 1 Surface Volumes" on the Draw Section
File dialog page which I am assuming would do this. But, within the program
itself this dialog differs slightly and that toggle does not exist and only
the end areas are shown.

I was able to set everything else up like I want it when drawing the sheets
but don't see how I can include the volumes automatically.

Or, was this functionality taken out in the current version of Roads. (Just
purchased it within the last month so I should have the current one)

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Wayne,

I am assuming that you want the yardage values drawn on the sheets when
using the Draw Section File command. If this is the case, at the present
time it cannot be done. We will check to be sure that your request is, what
I believe, already on the wish list. If not it we will get it on the list.

That's correct. Thanks.

As long as I know there is a wish list now.. hehe.. have another one for it.
In Carlson Survey itself.... the AutoCAD "dist" command... where you can
snap on any two places and get the distance between them. I really miss
that one... right now the only way I know to do it is to draw a line between
the two points and then do a list on it.

Try:
-Inquiry>Bearing & Distance
-Type "I" at command line

Wayne,

I noted your request for the dist command. However, like Nava said the
inverse command is pretty quick. It does give you the bearing between the
points but also the horizontal distance. The bearing and distance command
will give you a lot more information but it also requires more picks by the
user to complete. Try both of the commands out and see if either works for
you. Hope this helps.

Try typing di at the command prompt, it is not as good as the autocad dist
command, but close.

Thanks Barkley, Nava and Vince...

The inverse command or the "di" are close enough to what I was looking for
to make me happy.

Just an aside... Barkley, for it's price, Carlson Survey/Roads has way
exceeded my expectations. You have really addressed the small
surveying/engineering office that can't justify the cost of AutoCAD and the
associated addons that would be required... with a product that is
reasonable in price and full of features.
