I can create a new north arrow and find it's thumbnail in the
"tools"~"import symbols" but it isnot found under "annotation"~"draw north
arrow" Is there someway to edit the "draw north arrow" file to include
custom north arrows?
When I access under "tools"~"edit symbol file" the north arrow file is not
listed.

Don,

There isn't any way to add to the north arrow library found under the
annotate pulldown. The best option I can offer is to create your own
category under the Edit Symbol Library and place your custom north arrows
there.
