When I try to use the custimize option and create my own toolbar the POLY
LINE EDIT command button shows as a " _pedit Unknown command "PEDIT". Press
F1 for help."

Nor does the keyboard command "pedit" or "pe" work. Is this function not
available?

thank you,
Don Poole PLS

No, PEDIT is not available.
Check the editing commands under Edit | Polyline Utilities

Not really, "editpl" and PEDIT share no functionality.

"editpl" allows you to edit the coordinates of polyline vertices, while
PEDIT includes several different polyline editing commands.

As mentioned before, most of the functionality in PEDIT can be found
under "Edit | Polyline Utilities"
