Offset cul-de-sac

Postby jhiner » Thu Aug 29, 2002 6:58 am

Am using Carlson Survey CES.

I draw one straight polyline in a north direction.
I use design / offsets and intersections and pick the polyline.
I hit enter twice (no secondary roads).
The ROW offset is 25 and the radius is 20.
The EOP offset is 10.
I hit finish and obtain eop and row offsets.
Now I want an offset cul-de-sac on the left of the centerline.
I use Design/Cul-de-sacs and pick the four offset lines.
Then I pick the north end of the centerline and up comes a view of a
standard cul-de-sac.
I want it offset to the left so in the offset box I put -25 and in the
Center R. box I put 50 and hit Calculate.
I get the message "Could not calculate Cul_de_sac for layer 'EOP'. I hit ok
and get the message "Could not calculate Cul-de-sac for layer 'ROW'. I hit
ok and get a view of the offset lines and a circle.
What am I doing wrong.
Thanks,

Jeff,

I tried it here and all went well using your data. However, I don't think
you need the 50' in the center radius box. I am not sure what you are
trying to accomplish with the 50' center radius so I will let you make that
call. In an early release of Survey, the layers names for the EOP and ROW
had to match in regard to letter case. If one was caps the other had to be
or it would not calc the cul-de-sac. This is probably not the problem here
but take a look at the layers and verify. Also check your build date and
make sure you are running the latest build, 10-23-01. If none of the above
works, insert into a new drawing, making sure the explode toggle is checked
on on the insert dialog box and try it again. I will talk to a couple of
other techs here and see if they have heard of problems with the cul-de-sac
routine. If so I will have them reply to your post.
