Autocad no longer to be the engine of Carlson standalone

several weeks ago, I received an email about the withdrawal of the licensing arrangement with Autocad for the engine of Carlson Standalone. I am surprised that there has not been discussion on this issue on the forum. The implications seem to be more critical with Roads 2008 standalone.

I feel I have had the best of both by having Standalone. Many of my end users expect a dwg file. The Carlson product has been developed very well to suite Surveyor's needs. Interested in other users opinions

We will still have a standalone product that runs on AutoCAD OEM, It will just cost a little more than it used to. As for Roads, It may be gone for a short time but I feel it will not be long. If we do move to another engine, it will handle DWG's. As far as meeting the needs of surveyors, we always have and always will and will try to provide the least expensive solution available.

The part where you say roads will be gone and IF you move it to another engine makes me very nervous. My office runs on Survey and Roads woking together, with thousands invested so that it will. Can I have confidence that something will be done to insure the continued support and future for these products? I am very interested in the new features of Carlson Survey 2008, but we use Roads all the time, they have got to work together.

I am not the one that makes the decisions around here or the one they consult when they make one but I would almost be certain when Roads moves to a new engine then Survey will also be available on the same new engine, therefore they would work seamless as they always have. Also to say Roads is gone I guess is not exactly what it sounds like. If you have Roads, it will still work, if you are a new customer and want to buy Roads, we won't have it for sale for a short period of time. So its not gone, just temporarily unavailable for new purchase.
