Bringing in points from another Software

I want to bring in points from another software. I can export my points to an ASCI file. But I want the points to go to seperate layers according to their descriptions when I bring them in. I understand that I can create another .fld file from my coordinates, but it seems they all come in on the same layer. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

First import the ACSII file to a CRD file. Once the points are in CRD file use draw-locate points and select the check box near the top for Layer by Desc. This will do what you ask.
