We would like to transfer our custom toolbars from AutoCad 2004 to AutoCad 2007/Carlson Civil Suite 2007. The files are so different in 2007 that we are having a difficult time figuring out how to do this.

Can someone help?

AutoCAD 2007 will still read a MNU or MNS file. Just use the ._MENULOAD (or ._CUILOAD) command to load your partial menu. Change the "Files of Type" to MNU or MNS, depending on the format of your custom menu.

Be aware that when you load a MNU/MNS file, a CUI file is created and loaded into AutoCAD as the menu. Any editing you do to this menu inside AutoCAD is done to the CUI file and the MNU/MNS are not touched.

You might also try to migrate your settings. Under the program files list look for Migrate from a previous release. Which ever method you end up using you might find that if you also use custom button icons that they do not appear. That is you get a ? instead of the icon on the button. I have found that you must either specify the custom icon location files path found under the files tab in the options command such as C:\Users\aferguson\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Map 3D 2009\R17.2\enu\support\icons or copy them to this directory. If your using Windows XP your file path will be C:\...\Document and Settings\...\ Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCad 2007\ R17.2\enu\support\icons or something close to that. Make sure that you have choosen to see hidden files or folders under folder options or the Application Data folder will be hidden.
