FYI... I've discovered a problem that I believe is caused by MS Windows® (Vista) updates. My Carslon Survey 2008 Standalone begins to stop functioning properly when Windows® has downloaded updates and is waiting to install them or has installed them and is waiting to be rebooted.
Example: Labeling bearing and distance and only getting the bearing, no distance or the distance is out of rotation or no labels at all. One time my direction under the UNITS menu was changed from east to north. On all of the occurrences I found that Windows® has downloaded and is waiting to install or has just installed an update and the system needs to be rebooted. After the update is installed and the system is rebooted the program works correctly. It appears Windows® shuts down some of its system's functionality when it downloads updates, causing the problem. It might just be a coincident... just thought I would pass this on.
P.S. I don't allow Windows® to update automatically. That's could cause other problems.
