join nearest

Why does the join nearest command set the current layer to the objects
layer that you pick? Can this be fixed to stay in the layer your in
currently?

I get the same thing, (in CS2004).

Yes guys this is a bug. I have reported it to the programmers. Thanks
for the report. Hopefully we will get a fix soon.
