xref drawing layers

Postby DWHIDDEN » Mon Oct 25, 2010 7:27 pm

Is there a way to freeze layers in a drawing that is xref'ed in my drawing with Survey 2010?

Go to the "VIEW" tab at the top of the screen. Go down the pull down to "LAYER CONTROL". Click on that. Then turn off or freeze whatever layers you want. (The XREF layers will be the ones that have additional data ahead of the regular layers-like tyour ref'ed drawing name.)

With an XREF, you need to open the drawing to be xref'ed and do all of your changes there and then xref it into your main drawing.
My company's rules on xref's are that they are just that; reference files. If we wish to add their data to our drawing, we insert them as a block.
