Point Attributes

Postby tolinghous » Wed May 18, 2011 7:04 pm

I am using the TSC2 data collector with the trible survey controller software on it.

i take a shot and fill in my attributes, such as type of fence, type of monument etc

but when i download my points the attributes are empty

can someone point me to a manual or instructions on how to set it up to work?

or explain here?

Thanks,

Ty O

Are you processing the dc or job file using the field code library in TGO first and then exporting with attribute information? Also if you are, what type of file are you exporting, a text file with attributes or a shapefile?

What Format should I export out of TGO? Currently we are exporting using the survey tab and pnezd

I notice under cad/ascii there is a dc file with attributes

And what are the steps for importing into Carlson?

Thank you for any help

Carlson support technicians, correct me if I am wrong, the attributes from Trimble cannot be brought into a field to finish process in Carlson. However, you can export a shapefile from TGO and import that information using the GIS menu pulldown and import ESRI shapefile.

Right now the only way that I know to get the attributes into Carlson is a rather lengthy and hard to explain process. In order for Carlson to pick up the attribute information you must define the import method in a format similar to this: P,N,E,Z,D,N,N,N,N,N... It will pick the attributes up as note fields. After doing this you must setup an empty access gis database and import the text file and the note file into it. Without going into more detail, this is the only way that I have been able to accomplish what you are looking for.

Thanks again Lon

"In the Import Text/ASCII dialog, set the format to P,Y,X,Z,D,N,N. This will bring the additional data in as notes which won't display as part of the point description"

Surveying or land surveying is the technique and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes.

To accomplish their objective, surveyors use elements of geometry, engineering, trigonometry, mathematics, physics, and law.

WOW!! How freaking enlightening!! I NEVER knew that's what I did!!
The frigging spammers are just getting to be too much!
If my very LIFE depended on being able to find a place to buy golf accessories or cat beds, this is the absolutely the last place in the known universe that I would go for those products. If that ahole does not respect others any better than this I'll be damned if I would do business with them!!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Addison!!
