Bump...

This functionality must be available. I live in Canada and I want to setup non-default projections as well.

If you know how, please post.

i searched "define projection" and I found some interesting stuff in the Carlson help. It explains how to create the custom projection and how to test it. It is under "project Settings".

Unfortunately.... the first thing it says in the help file is "The project settings are set by selecting Settings > Project from the menu, or pressing the SE icon on the tool bar". I have not been able to find this in the settings menu... and I tried switching between all the workspaces for Carlson Civil Suite. No luck thus far.

aaronhahn777, the "define projection" help information that you found was in regards to the survnet application which you can access from the Survey Menu then Survnet. You then select Settings and then Project Settings which will give you the dialog box that appeared within the help documentation.

Additionally, in the main set of menus not within survnet. Settings then drawing setup, it gives you an option to define localization, if this helps at all. I don't use Carlson field software at all, so I don't know if this is a good option. Just a suggestion.

@paulhunt

hope this is what you're looking for... as of the 2012 update, there are canadian projections there.

click [settings] > [drawing setup]
then under "Coordinate system", toggle [grid]
set the "projection" pull-down to [more pre-defined/user-defined]
then click the [define projection] button (above)
a new menu pops up...
click [add pre-defined]
change "Region" pull-down to [Canada]
select your desired local projection for Alberta

hopefully the "local" projection you are looking for is NAD83 or ATS77. If not, you will have to create a custom one.

In Settings - Drawing Setup, go to Projection and choose user defined. Then select the Define Projection box which will now be selectable and add your variables in there.

I'm going off memory here, so excuse me if something is slightly worded wrong, but I know it's very close.
